Over my 11 years i've picked out these skills are the most common tasks needed to break the 200k p.a. value in your career - whilst still working half the year. These are my bread and butter, and I've trained grads, shotfirers, supervisors and even drillers to step into these roles.
Week 1-3: Consultant Engineer
- Understand and use cut-off grades to identify ore vs waste in 3D block models
- Design a basic pit shell and solid with batter, berms and a ramp system
- Use the pit solids to interrogate the material to determine strip ratio, and pit value
Week 4-6: Pit Engineer
- Use material blocks to complete an excel schedule showing required dates and ore flow
- Design waste dumps and site layout infrastructure
- Split up blocks and do basic dig designs for excavators/shovels.
Week 7-9: Drill and Blast
- Understand drill and blast parameters to use on any site
- Use your own pit shell design to do basic drill and blast pattern
- Load the drill and blast design correctly and how to QA
- Use drill and blast design to complete both nonel and electronic tie-ins
Week 10-12: Communication and Execution
- Basic dig design and communicate methods to handover the plan to operations
- Reporting excel basics when operation in place, recalculating flitch design and volumes throughout the week as needed

Q: Which format should I choose?
A: Honest answer - most people know. If you need accountability and feedback, go coaching. If you're self-motivated and want flexibility, go self-study.
Q: Can I upgrade from Self-Study to Coaching?
A: They're separate purchases. Self-Study is $27. If you later want coaching, you'd pay the full coaching price as it is live feedback and hours. Most people pick their format upfront.
Q: Do I need a degree?
A: No. That's the entire point. We're building proof of competency that bypasses the "Bachelor's required" filter.
Q: Can my employer pay for this?

Q: What if I can't make the live sessions? (Coaching)
A: Every session is recorded. But live attendance is strongly recommended - that's the main value of coaching.
